Welcome!

We welcome you to Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Located on US Hwy 61 south of Louisville, we gather around God’s Word and Sacraments as He gives the forgiveness of sins, life and salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord. We preach Christ crucified and risen. Our congregation, nestled in the hills of Bullitt County, is a place of deep spiritual water flowing through the lives of those who seek and share the clear refreshment of the Gospel. We are Christians of Lutheran Confession—that is we profess Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, as did Dr. Martin Luther, Pastor and Confessor in Saxony in the 16th century. Through the ages, God leads us by Grace alone, through Faith alone, as we know Him from the Holy Scriptures alone. We follow Christ Jesus alone. 2017 marks the 500th year of the Protestant Reformation, an event that shattered the night of the Dark Ages with the Light of Christ. Today our world needs that same reformation and return to the Word of God.

Our Vision: We are members of the Body of Christ in Shepherdsville, gathered around God’s Word and Sacrament, and called to follow Christ Jesus as a blessing to all.

We may well be the closest Church to you. Some in Mallard Lake or The Point subdivisions can walk to Divine Savior Lutheran Church. With joy, we serve Shepherdsville, Brooks, Zoneton, Pioneer Village, Hillview, Mount Washington, Cedar Grove, Solitude, Clermont, Bernheim, Lebanon Junction, Fort Knox, Beech Grove, Nichols, Knob Creek, and surrounding counties.

Why Church?

God says that Church is place where God gathers a people who are longing for the forgiveness of their sins.  The Church is visible and it is also invisible.  We say the Church is visible because we see both believers and hypocrites gathered around Word and Sacrament.  We say that the Church is invisible, because God recognizes believers only, sheep who follow the voice of Jesus, their Shepherd.   God gathers a people around Himself for He is the source of their life and salvation in Christ Jesus! Church is where we hear God’s Law and Gospel.  It is a place where the Baptized are called to take up our cross and follow Christ crucified and risen. Church is an assembly, communing in the cup of Christ, the only true common union.

Why Lutheran?

A Lutheran is one who is following Jesus Christ, the same Jesus Christ that Martin Luther followed out of the Dark Ages of Germany 500 years ago.  The Protestant Reformation began as God used Martin Luther, Pastor and Reformer.  The Lutheran Church is not the sole saving Church; but, it is the Church where the sole saving Gospel in Jesus Christ finds its clearest expression.

Why Savior?

Savior—Many pretend as though they do not need a savior.  We live in a world that desperately needs a savior.  We trust in Jesus Christ, our Savior.  He has saved us from sin, death, and the power of the devil.

Why Divine?

Divine is a Word describing God.  We believe our Savior is Divine because He has made the heavens and the earth, and all that is in them.  We believe His salvation is Divine because we cannot save ourselves.  We cannot, of ourselves believe in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, or come to Him.  But, the Holy Spirit has called us by the Gospel, enlightened us with His gifts, and keeps us in true faith in God.  God must do it.  In Christ, He has done all things well.  This is Divine.
